The weather in June, July and August in Cape Town / Camps Bay
June, July and August is mid winter in Cape Town and South Africa.
I love this time of year as there is less traffic, its green everywhere, it’s whale season, the restaurants start their specials and you can get really good accommodation specials.
The average temperature is from 8 degrees celsius minimum to 20 degrees, maybe a degree more in Camps Bay (its warmer by the ocean – the further inland you go – the colder it gets). There is on average 12 days of rain in June, July and 10 days in August, although it mostly rains at night.
At Camps Bay Apartments we offer discounted monthly rates during the winter months. Please e-mail us for further information. Most of rental villas and apartments offer gas fire places, underfloor heating and air-conditioning. Where that is not possible there will be heaters and some offer electric blankets.
Even when it rains there is still a lot of things to do in Cape Town.
Weather forecast.
Daylight Hours:
– Sunrise: Around 7:30 AM – 7:00 AM (late in July, slightly earlier by August)
– Sunset: Around 6:10 PM – 6:20 PM (days get longer toward August)
Sea Temperature:
June/July/August 14-15°C (57-59°F) – its much colder than summer (Dec-Feb: 18-22°C / 64-72°F). The Atlantic ocean offers free cold plunges throughout the year. The Camps Bay tidal pool is very popular for that. Some days eg weekends there is a mobile sauna outside the tidal pool, to heat up.
