The Man Booker Prize short list has just been announced.
Apparently there is a lot of violence in the books this year. I am not not particularly fond of reading books with so violence but I guess comedy is harder to write.
The favourite and the most grim is A Little Life, by Hanya Yanagihara. Not a light weight, boasting 700 pages, featuring drug abuse, an accident and child abuse. Happy days….
The 2nd favourite is Marlon James’s A Brief History of Seven Killings, the story is about the murder of Bob Marley.
3rd favourite is Tom McCarthy’s Satin Island and Anne Tyler’s A Spool of Blue Thread.
