Cycling the Camino Portugues: To Santiago De Compastella
In the morning I waited for the thunder to subside and then hit the road in the rain. I arrived in Santiago De Compastella drenched and happy. I stayed at Auberge Linares, which I thought was a Five Star Auberge.
I met Renata from Norway and Winet and Riana from Namibia. We attended the pilgrim’s mass at midday which was emotional.
The priests swung a huge incensory made of silver-plated brass, which weighs 170-pounds, through the sanctuary. It left behind a trail of smoke and the fragrance of incense. Many year’s ago, it was to get rid of the pilgrim’s bad smell and diseases.
The four of us went for lunch and we said good bye to Winet and Renata and Riana and I went to explore the city.
