Cycling the Camino Portugues: Esposende to Viana Do Castello
The cycle to Viana Do Castello was more my type of cycle. Through forests with waterfalls, rivers, birds singing and amazing views (which meant some climbing..).
Well, the medieval town of Viana Do Castelo is the place to be on Costa Verde. Narrow lanes, restaurants overlooking the Rio Lima estuary, a castle on the hill. What more would you want? A hotel room…. Mmm I don’t book or plan ahead, so find a hotel on a Saturday afternoon was a challenge. I staid at the modern Laranjeira hotel, with a view of the rooftops and castle from my balcony.
My friend for the day was Jim from Canada. He has cycled all over the world and was on the way, cycling to Sweden.
