OmmiBerg Round the Rock Nouweau Wine Festival

On Saturday, Cobie and I visited OmmiBerg Round the Rock Nouweau Wine Festival.  To drive to Paarl from Cape Town takes under an hour.

We started off at Perdeberg Winery where the Marketing Manager, Fergill poured us each a glass of Cap Classique Pinot Noir to kick start the day.

We then visited Windmeul where we snacked on spring rolls and watched the ladies cook enormous pots of “moskonfyt”.

I loved the visit to Rhebokskloof,  where lay on oversized cushions on the lawn overlooking the lake, sipping Cap Classique.  Rhebokskloof has a mountain bike trail which costs R30 which I am definitely going to try out soon.

Boland Cellar offers cheap and cheerful wine and they had Andriette Norman singing who is apparently a local Idols finalist or something.

The Red Table Restaurant at Nederberg was our lunch stop. I can highly recommend the beautiful restaurant if you need a break during wine tasting.  They also offer a modern and stylish tasting room in another area on the estate.

After lunch our visits were focused on small wineries and I really enjoyed them all.

Druk-My-Niet have German owners and offered a pig on the spit and flamkogen.  We met the lucky guy who is marrying the owners daughter this weekend. Congratulations! I also ran into a couple of my German guests who annually rent an apartment in Camps Bay.

Olsen Private Vineyard had a long communal harvest table set out under the trees with the most amazing view of the mountains.

Our last stop for the afternoon was Mellasat Vineyards who offered a Vinotherapy foot massage and grape stomping.  I enjoyed tasting their white Pinotage.

Well eight wine farms in one day is good going in my books, no wonder I was exhausted afterwards!
