The Man Booker Prize 2015 short list

The Man Booker Prize short list has just been announced.

Apparently there is a lot of violence in the books this year.  I am not not particularly fond of reading books with so violence but I guess comedy is harder to write.

The favourite and the most grim is A Little Life, by Hanya Yanagihara. Not a light weight, boasting 700 pages, featuring drug abuse, an accident and child abuse. Happy days….

The 2nd favourite is Marlon James’s A Brief History of Seven Killings, the story is about the murder of Bob Marley.

3rd favourite is Tom McCarthy’s Satin Island and Anne Tyler’s A Spool of Blue Thread.

Here is the short list:

A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler

Satin Island by Tom McCarthy

The Fishermen by Chigozie Obioma

The Year of the Runaways by Sunjeev Sahota
